Tip

  • Plant seeds to a depth of no more than two times the seed's diameter.

The steps for large seeds

  1. Use a skewer or similar utensil to make a hole in the soil.
  2. Pop the seed into the hole.
  3. Cover over lightly with soil. Press down lightly.
  4. Mist the surface gently.

The steps for fine seeds

  1. If the seeds are fine, sprinkle the seed on the soil surface.
  2. Lightly moisten with spray.
  3. Cover seed with a fine sprinkling of soil and press down lightly.
  4. Mist the surface gently.

Ongoing maintenance

  • Maintain moist conditions at all times when germinating.
  • Once seeds have germinated, provide high light conditions. Plants will quickly grow 'leggy' if inadequate light is provided.
  • Use rainwater or filtered water, preferably not tap water.
